![]() This is typically why manufactures stick to around 4300k on OEM cars. This means that over 4000k temperature the lumens will often start to decrease. ![]() In the context of a light bulb the k is only referencing the color of the light that is emitted, however it is typically inversely proportional to the lumen output on a bulb after around 4000k. At certain temperatures the gases within an HID bulb will glow at different colors. The kelvin (k) scale is temperature based. The retrofitsource has a lot of lens options.įrom your post I am not sure if you're meaning 4000k as brightness or color. If you're going to take apart the projector I would recommend changing the lens to something with better clarity. Swapping to a 55w ballast might be complicated but will definitely make them brighter at the expense of bulb life (higher wattage ballasts will also shift your bulb to a cooler temperature (k) so if you want to maintain your color you'll have to adjust accordingly). LED just doesn't put out the same amount of light as an HID regardless of what claims they might make. LED is not going to have the ability to throw light nearly as far as an HID, not currently at least, even though it is the popular fad right now. It manages to outperform everything on the market, including the Osram's best, by a couple hundred lumens. Unless you want to start disassembling your housing your best solution is to get the brightest HID bulb possible, which is the Philips Xtreme Vision. Adding another set of fog lights, but that would look weird Replacing with 55w hid (but would that kill the headlight module?) (and would it cause a light error warning)ģ. The light output from my hids feels like 4000k, not even pure white, feels more like 2x the brightness of halogenġ. Replacing the high beam with brighter piaa halogens Changing cornering light to LED (non ballast kind though)ĥ. Replacing the factory fog with the oracle led fog housing (but in the auto setting the fog light doesn't turn on, can I code it to make it stay on in auto?)Ĥ. Replacing with OE replacment hid bulbs (osram d1s)ģ. Cleaning the exterior lens (mine was not even hazed up)Ģ. What kind of option I have to increase light output without changing out the whole housing.ġ. ![]() My problem is the brightness from the headlight is not as good as I like it to be. I got a 13 GTS, it has the factory hid with the 4 led around it.
